Using the games effectively Minimize
  • The learner should play the digital games for no more than 15 minutes at any one time. They will benefit far more from playing the games little and often.
  • Encourage the learner to play each game several times, aiming to beat their best time. Repetition helps the learner to remember what they have learned.
  • Learners will often benefit more from playing the games while you are sitting with them. Discussing what they are doing can help reinforce their learning.
  • Initially, the games should be played in order – so that the learner is never presented with a game that is too difficult for them. Later, by CTRL clicking a WORLD CHOOSER button, you can select any game for the learner to play.

NB The CTRL click applies to the ONLINE versions only. The CD ROM versions each have their own keypress (for details, please see the relevant CD ROM user guide).
