12th July 2013 - Catch Up® caught up!

Catch Up Blog

A very successful ‘Catching up with Catch Up® conference’ took place in London last week!

The average delegate response to ‘How helpful has the day been to you?’ was 4.9 (with 1 being ‘least helpful’ and 5 being ‘most helpful’).

First, we heard about Catch Up® success in England, Wales and beyond, reporting that Catch Up® has now trained 19,000 supporting adults to date, making a difference to over half a million struggling learners!

We then enjoyed interesting presentations from a range of presenters:

  • Kirsty Offord-Hall and Andy Fraser from the Compass group told us of the positive impact of the Catch Up® interventions on Looked After Children

  • Catherine Pass, Specialist Teacher, Learning Difficulties Team, from Bradford Children’s Services spoke about her research demonstrating how Catch Up® Literacy improves comprehension

  • Graham Sigley, Catch Up®b">Catch Up® Deputy Director, described a new exciting pilot maximising the use of Catch Up® digital games, involving volunteers, parents and carers, and business mentors

We were also given an update on two current research projects; the Catch Up® Numeracy research project, due to finish in the Autumn term and the recently started Catch Up® Literacy transition research project.

What our delegates said:

“A great day amongst interested and committed people who are passionate, caring, skilled and wanting the best for children and young people.”

“…wonderful day with lots of good news stories, fantastic!”

“…helpful and inspiring, incredibly useful – thank you!”

“…very well organised with great speakers”
