Intervention: Catch Up® Numeracy and Catch Up® Literacy
Background experience: After 18 years in the environmental engineering industry, including 10 years running my own consultancy, I have spent the last 18 years in education as a maths and business studies specialist teacher, teaching children from KS2 up to A Level. Specific roles have included appointments as DfES National Strategies Numeracy Consultant, Head of Mathematics and Numeracy, Vice Principal and SENCO/Safeguarding Lead in various South Yorkshire secondary schools. I am currently working as a self-employed education consultant and have also served as a Primary School Chair of Governors.

I became a CUAT in 2019
What’s been your greatest success as a Catch Up® trainer?
Responding positively to the differing experiences and needs of trainees.
What do you like best about Catch Up® training?
It makes a difference to children and their futures, and I also really enjoy enabling and enthusing trainees and looking for the ‘lightbulb moments’.
What would be your Catch Up® top tip/advice?
It works …. so don’t try to fix it!
Give one interesting fact about yourself that might surprise people.
I regularly participate in amateur musical theatre, either performing on stage, as musical director or as stage manager.
