13th April 2026 - Catch Up® closure notice

The trustees of the Caxton Trust, which trades as Catch Up®, announce that the charity will cease training of its Literacy and Numeracy interventions at the end of July 2026 and its office in Thetford will be closed. A number of accredited licensed freelance trainers are looking to continue to offer training in the future but without the support of a centralised office.

The Catch Up® project began in 1998 and over a 10-year period a comprehensive literacy package was developed and launched as Catch Up® Literacy in 2007. Catch Up® Numeracy followed in 2008. Its interventions have helped struggling learners across the UK and abroad and over 36,000 supporting adults have been trained. It is estimated over half a million struggling learners have benefitted from receiving the Catch Up® interventions over the years.

In recent years the education sector has experienced falling pupil rolls, reduced schools’ budgets, fewer teaching assistants and lack of staff capacity within schools meaning demand for Catch Up® interventions has fallen. Despite the best efforts of the staff team and cost cutting in recent years, falling demand has meant that with the current level of activity the charity is not sustainable. The trustees have therefore taken the difficult decision to close. The trustees are grateful for the commitment and dedication of the staff team for their years of service.

We will be contacting members of the Catch Up® community about the access to resources in the next few weeks. Details of how to book Catch Up® training from September will be displayed on the Catch Up® website at a later date.

In the meantime, training will still be offered until the end of June 2026 and can be booked online or by contacting the office.
