1st December 2020 - Training round-up, Autumn Term 2020

As we approach the end of a historic school term, we wanted to thank you all for the amazing support you have provided to the struggling learners in your school. We have been overwhelmed by the passion and commitment shown by our whole Catch Up® Community, in helping the learners to thrive in these difficult times.

During the past four months, we have delivered 45 ‘Delivering Catch Up®’ online training courses, welcoming more than 550 attendees to the Catch Up® Community. In addition, we have, of course, continued to offer our popular Catch Up® information session webinars.

Due to the high demand for our courses, we have expanded the team of our Accredited Trainers who deliver the online training, and have been pleased to train attendees from all over the UK and beyond! Trainees from Scotland, Wales, England and Northern Ireland have joined us, along with colleagues from overseas. We are proud that our online training courses can enable so many people to attend.

Communicating online is a medium we all have got used to very quickly during 2020, and we are very pleased that it was a format already embedded into our training offerings! For many people, attending a Catch Up® course this term may have been their first online training experience, and our dedicated Accredited Trainers always strive to ensure it is a positive one.

Tracy Riley is one of our fantastic team, who delivers both Catch Up® Literacy and Catch Up® Numeracy courses. She has been very busy this term delivering our online courses and has been delighted with the response from the attendees. Tracy told us, “The online training format may feel different at first when you’re used to attending face-to-face training, but, even after the first session, many trainees comment on how convenient, straightforward and interactive it is!” She went on to explain, “There are a variety of ways to interact during the session and plenty of opportunities to ask questions. Follow-up tasks are given between sessions, which are discussed as a group and allow for us to compare responses, which is extremely interesting!”

Tracy has also found the training provides an excellent opportunity to work with a wide range of trainees. She told us, “The online format enables trainees to attend from around the world, and allows them to continue to deliver the Catch Up® interventions and help struggling learners throughout this unpredictable year!”

We always welcome feedback and suggestions from our Catch Up® Community, and are proud to read the positive responses for our courses. This term, we have been heartened by the feedback you have given us, including the following comments:

‘Training was professional and clear’

‘Well organised and informative’

‘I feel confident that I can now deliver Catch Up® in my school’

‘Really enjoyed the online format’

‘Very thorough training’

‘Brilliant’
