22nd June 2021 - Training round-up, Spring and Summer 2021

2021 has been a huge challenge for us all, but we have been inspired by the commitment and passion within our Catch Up® Community to ensure that struggling learners still receive the support they need.

Since January, we have been pleased to deliver more than 50 ‘Delivering Catch Up®’ online training courses, welcoming nearly 600 attendees to the Catch Up® Community.

It has been a pleasure to welcome trainees from all parts of the UK and overseas, from many different schools and settings, and fulfilling a variety of roles. We are proud that our training courses are accessible to this wide audience so that we can continue to support as many struggling learners as possible.

Our team of Accredited Trainers have enjoyed delivering Catch Up® Literacy and Catch Up® Numeracy courses, as well as our Catch Up® introductory information webinar.

Two of our team, Alison Haines and Kath John, have been particularly busy this year delivering online sessions, and have enjoyed meeting trainees in the virtual training rooms!

Kath told us, “There has been a wide range of trainees, from Headteachers to deputies, SENCOs, teachers and teaching assistants. They have all been brilliant in terms of responding to the activities, and have given really thoughtful answers to the tasks.” Alison added, “The expansion of our online training has been very positive. It has enabled us to keep reaching out and delivering training for people wherever they may be.”

We often receive positive feedback about the structure of our online training courses, and both Alison and Kath have found this too.

Alison said, “Trainees have been able to access the courses very successfully, despite the pandemic, which is a testament to their flexibility as well as the team at Catch Up®.” Kath added, “I have really enjoyed engaging via the question and chat windows – even the questions that make me stop and think! Trainees have appeared to be very comfortable with the format, and typing their responses and queries as the course unfolds.”

The format of our online courses enables trainees to fully engage with the trainer, and includes opportunities to discuss, reflect, participate practically and learn from the practice of others.

We ask trainees to evaluate their training experiences, and the average trainee response to ‘How would you rate the training course overall?’ was 4.2 (with 1 being ‘poor’ and 5 being ‘excellent’).

Trainees often leave some feedback messages as well, which are always gratefully received, and these are just a few that have come in over the past few months:

‘I left feeling inspired’

‘A well-presented and informative course’

‘I love the ongoing support available’

‘Excellent access to online resources’

‘Excellent training – clear and concise and plenty of opportunity to interact’

We are taking bookings for our Autumn Term 2021 courses now. Simply visit www.catchup.org to find out what’s coming up or contact the Catch Up® team via email training@catchup.org or telephone 01842 821465.

We look forward to working with you to support even more struggling learners.
