6th December 2022 - Training round-up, Autumn 2022

As we approach the end of another year, it is good to look back over the Autumn term and celebrate all that has been achieved in the Catch Up® Community.

Since September 2022, we have delivered over 30 ‘Delivering Catch Up®’ training courses, welcoming more than 350 attendees to the Catch Up® family. These have taken place mainly online, but we have also been pleased to facilitate face-to-face training for schools who have requested it.

Our team of dedicated Catch Up® Accredited Trainers have enjoyed working with trainees from across the UK and internationally, who are based in a variety of settings supporting both younger and older learners. We relish the enthusiasm and passion often expressed during the training courses, and the keenness to ‘get started’ as soon as possible; using either Catch Up® Literacy or Catch Up® Numeracy.

This term, we have also been pleased to continue offering our Information Webinar for those who wish to learn a little more about Catch Up®. These one-hour sessions take place on a regular basis and can be booked via the Catch Up® website – www.catchup.org.

Here at Catch Up® we are always looking at how we can further support the Catch Up® Community and, in turn, the learners receiving support. We listen carefully to all feedback and suggestions to inform any next steps.

We understand how difficult the last few months have been in schools and educational settings and are aware that some staff have been trained but, for a variety of reasons, have not been able to start using Catch Up®. Therefore, this term, we have been offering trial drop-in sessions to provide an opportunity for deliverers to ask any questions they may have, and to seek clarification on any part of the intervention process, so that they feel confident to launch Catch Up® with their own learners.

For this trial, we have been very pleased to offer two drop in sessions for Catch Up® Literacy and two for Catch Up® Numeracy. These sessions were led by two of our trainer team: Debbie Rowan and Clare Manghan.

Clare told us, ‘The trial drop in sessions have been really successful and provided a relaxed, open forum to discuss all things Catch Up with trained Catch Up deliverers! The content has been led by the points raised by those attending, and has ranged from selection of learners, through the overview of the process, to how to monitor progress’.

Clare went on to explain the comradery in the groups. ‘Debbie and I have been privileged to facilitate the discussions and it has been a wonderful opportunity for school staff to share ideas, questions and learn from each other too’.

If you have attended one of these trial drop in sessions, you will have received an email seeking your views as we determine if:

  • These sessions should be offered in 2023?

  • We need to make any changes to the sessions?

We would love to hear from you, and if you respond using the link in the specific email you will be entered into a prize draw.
Thank you and good luck!
